A Transparent and Rigorous Evaluation of Scholarly Manuscripts

RossLaw Journal of Legal Studies evaluates every manuscript for relevance, originality, academic quality, and methodological soundness, through a structured process that promotes fairness, confidentiality, and academic integrity.

The Review Stages

  1. Initial Editorial Screening
The editor checks whether the manuscript fits the journal's focus and scope, follows the author guidelines, and meets basic standards of originality and academic presentation. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned or rejected before external review.
  2. Assignment to Reviewers
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to qualified reviewers whose expertise is relevant to the subject. Reviewers are expected to disclose conflicts of interest and maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript.
  3. Scholarly Evaluation
Reviewers assess the manuscript's originality, relevance, research questions, legal analysis, methodology, use of sources, clarity of argument, and contribution to the field. They provide constructive comments and a recommendation to the editor.
  4. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviews and editorial assessment, the manuscript may be accepted, returned for revision, or rejected. A revision request does not guarantee acceptance. The final decision rests with the authorized editor.
  5. Revision and Final Assessment
Authors respond to reviewer comments and submit a revised manuscript when requested. Revisions may be evaluated again by reviewers or the editor before a final decision is made.
